DTC P1642 Non-immobilizer-ECM connected to an Immobilizer

DESCRIPTION
In case of immobilizer system, the Engine Control Module(ECM) carries out a check of the ignition key using a special encoding algorithm, which is programmed into the transponder as well as the ECM simultaneously. Only if the results are equal the engine can be started. The data of all transponders, which are valid for the vehicle, are stored in the ECM.

DTC Detecting Condition:

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- The wrong ECM is equipped. There is no inspection of service possible for this diagnostic trouble code.
- Temporarily install a right ECM and check for proper operation.
