DTC B1406 PPD DEFECTCIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The release system for the airbag consists of the SRSCM, an interface unit and PPD. The above DTCs are recorded when the defect or communication error of PPD is detected in the PPD circuit

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Preparation
1. Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least 30 seconds.
2. Remove the DAB module.
3. Disconnect the connectors of the PAB, left and right side airbag,belt pretensioner and satellite sensor.
4. Disconnect the connector of the SRSCM.
CAUTION: Place the DAB with the front surface facing upward.
2. Check PPD circuit (communication error). Check continuity between the SRSCM connector and the PPD interface unit as high (+) and high, low (-) and low (-).
[OK]-> Continuity
[NG]-> Replace harness between SRSCM and PPD I/F unit.
[OK]->
3. Check the PPD interface unit.Check continuity of PPD interface unit as high (+) and high (+), low (-) and low (-).
4. Check PPD sensor (Defect).
[CHECK]
Check the resistance in accordance with the changed weight.
R ≤ 50 K Ohms for W ≥ 15 kg. 33 lb
R > 50 K Ohms for W ≤ 0.6kg. 1.3 lb
[NG]-> Replace PPD sensor.
[OK]->
5. Check PPD squib.
[PREPARATION]
1. Connect connector to SRSCM.
2. Connect negative (-) terminal cable to battery, and wait at least 30 seconds.
[CHECK]
1. Turn ignition switch to ON, and wait at least 30 seconds.
2. Clear malfunction code stored in memory with Scan tool.
3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least 30 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch to ON, and wait at least 30 seconds.
5. Using Hi-Scan Pro, check DTC.
There is no DTC.

Codes other than these ones may be output at this time, but they are not relevant to this check.
[NG]-> Replace SRSCM.

From the results of the above inspection, the malfunctioning part can now be considered normal.
