Automatic Update Procedure

1. Remove the Data Link Connector (DLC) cable from the Hi-Scan Pro and attach the reprogramming adapter.

2. Connect the 10 pin adapter (red color) to the reprogramming adapter.

3. Remove the current software card from the Hi-Scan Pro and insert the reprogramming software pack card into the Hi-Scan Pro top slot.





4. Insert the Hi-Scan Pro cigarette power adapter.

5. Plug the power connector from the reprogramming adapter to the cigarette adapter.

6. Plug the power connector from the cigarette adapter into the Hi-Scan Pro.

7. Connect the red 10 pin connector from the reprogramming adapter into the white reprogramming connector next to the DLC (Data Link Connector).

8. Turn the ignition to the ON position.

9. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro ON and press ENTER.





10. Select option "55. EF 2.4 05MY COLD START HESITATION" and press ENTER.





11. Select option "01. EF 2.4 05MY COLD START HESITATION [AUTO]" and press ENTER.





12. Enter "1229" as the password for automatic update and press ENTER.





13. The Hi-Scan Pro will establish communication and check the ECM ID. The Hi-Scan Pro will reprogram the ECM automatically.

NOTE:
The Hi-Scan Pro detects the current ECM ID and then displays it for about 1 second.

EXAMPLE:

ECM ID: 9321F0





Only 6 letters in the ECM ID are displayed on the screen.





14. The Hi-Scan Pro will download the new ECM program.

NOTE:
If the Hi-Scan Pro does not download the program, use the Manual Update Procedure following this section.

WARNING:
Do not interrupt the reprogramming at any time. The ECM will be rendered inoperative if the program does not download completely.





15. The Hi-can Pro initializes the system.





16. When the "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED" message is displayed, the ECM reprogramming process is complete.

NOTE:

^ The new ECM ID is displayed when the new ECM download process is complete.

^ Check the new ECM ID displayed on the screen to verify that the correct program has been downloaded.

^ Refer to the "ECM Specifications Table" in this bulletin for the ECM listing.

17. Turn the ignition to the OFF position for 20 seconds and then start the engine and check for proper operation.

18. Check for diagnostic trouble codes using the Hi-Scan Pro with the system software card. Erase all trouble codes.
