DESCRIPTION:
Some transmission gear shift knob caps on 2005 MY Elantra vehicles with manual transmissions may have to be replaced.
NOTE:
This campaign only affects vehicles in dealer stock.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: 2005 ELANTRA vehicles with manual transaxles
^ Affected vehicle production date range: December 1, 2004 to January 31, 2005
PARTS INFORMATION:
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date.
1. Engage the parking brake fully.
2. Unscrew the transmission shift knob from the lever.
3. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the cap from the knob.
4. Assemble the new cap to the removed shift knob.
5. Install the shift knob assembly with the new cap to the lever.
NOTE:
Make certain that the gear shift pattern is correctly positioned.
