Cylinder Head Bolt Torque and Sequence
Tightening Cylinder Head Bolts1. First loosen slightly and then tighten to the specified torque.
Tightening torque
Cylinder head bolts cold [Engine temperature approximately 20°C (68°F): 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.) + (58° - 62°) + (43° - 47°)
2. Use the torque-angle method to torque the head bolts.
3. Be sure to follow the specific torque sequence as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Run the engine to normal operating temperature and let it cool, then re-torque the bolts to specifications.
Flatness Of Cylinder Head Surface
Specification Maximum 0.03 mm (0.0012 inch)
Limit 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)

Tighten the bearing caps to the specified torque in two or three increments.
M6 (38 mm): 10 - 12 Nm (100 - 120 kgf-cm, 7 - 9 ft. lbs.)
M6 (50 mm): 14 - 16 Nm (140 - 160 kgf-cm, 10 - 12 ft. lbs.)
Camshaft Sprocket Bolt 90 - 110 Nm (65 - 80 ft. lbs.)
