Transmission Removal
AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLECOMPONENTS
REMOVAL
1. After removing the engine cover, remove the battery and the tray.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect the transaxle range switch connector (B) and solenoid connector (A).
4. Disconnect the output shaft speed connector (A) and the vehicle speed sensor connector (B).
5. Remove the control cable (A), loosening the nut (B).
6. Remove the oil cooler hose (A).
7. Separate the power steering column shaft from the U-joint, loosening the nut (A).
8. Remove the steering oil pressure the return tube.
9. Attach the special tool, engine support fixture, (J28467-B, J28467-125) to the engine hooks.
10. Remove the transaxle mounting bolt and bracket (A).
11. Remove the upper bolt of the transaxle torque converter housing.
12. Lift up the vehicle.
13. Remove the 02 sensor connector and the front muffler.
14. Remove the drain plug (A) and drain the automatic transaxle fluid.
15. Remove the tie rod, the lower arm ball joint and the drive shaft.
16. Remove the steering tube mounting bolt mounted on the sub-frame.
17. Remove the front and the rear roll support bolt.
18. Install the jack for the removal of the sub-frame.
19. Remove the subframe mounting bolts (A) and the sub-frame.
20. Remove the starter motor.
21. Remove the bell housing cover.
22. Install the jack for the removal of the transaxle.
23. Remove the connecting bolts between the drive plate and the torque converter while rotating the crank shaft.
24. Remove the front roll support.
25. Remove the rear roll support.
26. Remove the automatic transaxle assembly by jack.
CAUTION:
^ Engine and transmission mounting insulators should be Installed as specified orders.

- Front roll support mounting bracket
^ When Installing the front roll support mounting bracket, be especially careful not to crush the insulator. If crushed, idle vibration may occur
