2006 AZERA IMMOBILIZER - LIMP HOME PASSWORD FEATURE AND PROGRAMMING

DESCRIPTION

The 2006 Azera is equipped with an Immobilizer passive security system. The Immobilizer prevents the vehicle's fuel injection system from operating and starting the vehicle unless the correct pre-programmed Immobilizer key is used. The Immobilizer system is also equipped with a programmable 4-digit password to enable a Limp Home' mode. In the event of an Immobilizer system malfunction, this Limp Home' mode will allow the owner to start the vehicle by entering their pre-selected 4-digit password using a series of ignition key cycles (i.e., On-Off). This Limp Home' mode provides an alternate means for the owner to drive the vehicle to their authorized Hyundai dealer for system servicing. This Limp Home' mode and related procedure is described in the 2006 Azera Owner's Manual.

Additional information on recognizing, diagnosing, and correcting Immobilizer-related faults can be found in the 2006 Azera Shop Manual.

NOTE:
This feature is disabled from the factory and there is no default code. The customer-selected 4-digit 'Limp Home' password must be programmed into the Power Control Module (PCM) during the vehicle sale process using a Hi-Scan Pro diagnostic tool.

NOTE:
The 4-digit 'Limp Home' password is different than the 6-digit PIN code used for the Immobilizer key 'Teaching' function. The 4-digit password is not permanently associated with the VIN and may be accessed and changed at any time using a Hi-Scan Pro diagnostic tool.
