2006 AZERA PCM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDUREFOR COLD WOT 1-2 SHIFT HESITATION
MODEL: 2006 AZERA
DESCRIPTION:
Some 2006 Azera vehicles may exhibit a 1-2 shift hesitation under wide open throttle (WOT) operation when cold. WOT describes when the accelerator pedal is pushed to the floor.
This article provides the procedure to reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using the Hi-Scan Pro.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: 2006 AZERA vehicles
^ Affected vehicle production date range: Start of Production to February 13, 2006
PCM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
Verify that the vehicle is one of the affected vehicles by identifying the
HI-SCAN PRO INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
1. Attach the Data Link Cable (DLC) 16-pin connector to the Hi-Scan Pro main body and securely tighten the two bolts.
2. Remove the current system software card from the Hi-Scan Pro and insert the reprogramming software card with the new PCM program into the Hi-Scan Pro top slot.

3. Plug the DLC connector from the Hi-Scan Pro into the vehicle's connector under the instrument panel on the driver's side.
AUTOMATIC REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. (Do not start the engine).
2. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro ON.
3. Select option "75. TG 3.8 1->2 SHIFT HESITATION IMPROVE" and press ENTER.
NOTE:
If option # 75 is not available on your card you will need to update your software on the black 32MB reprogram card at hmaservice.com.
4. Select option ~ TG 3.8 1->2 SHIFT HESITATION [AUTO]" and press ENTER.
5. Enter "1229" as the password for automatic reprogramming mode and press ENTER.
6. The Hi-Scan Pro will establish communication, check the PCM ID, and reprogram the PCM.
NOTE:
The Hi-Scan Pro detects the current PCM ID, assigns the new PCM ID and displays them on the Hi-Scan Pro screen.
NOTE:
Check the PCM ID displayed on the Hi-Scan Pro screen to verify that the correct PCM software is being downloaded. Refer to the "ROM ID INFORMATION TABLE" in this bulletin.
NOTE:
If the Hi-Scan Pro does not download the program, use the "MANUAL REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE."
7. When "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED" message is displayed, turn the ignition key OFF for 20 seconds and then start the engine to confirm proper operation of the vehicle.
8. Check for any engine or transmission section diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) using the Hi-Scan Pro and erase any DTCs present.
MANUAL REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
CAUTION:
Manual Reprogramming must be performed only when Automatic Reprogramming fails.
CAUTION:
If Automatic Reprogramming fails, turn the ignition switch OFF for about 10 seconds, place it back in the ON position and then perform Manual Reprogramming.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for about 10 seconds and then back to the ON position. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro ON and press ENTER.
2. Select option "75. TG 3.8 1->2 SHIFT HESITATION IMPROVE" and press ENTER.
3. Select option "02. TG 3.8 1->2 SHIFT HESITATION [ERROR]" and press ENTER.
4. Select option "01. TG 3.8 AT: 391 10-3C210" and press ENTER.
5. Enter "3210" as the password for Manual Reprogramming Mode and press ENTER. The Hi-Scan Pro will establish communication, check the PCM ID and reprogram the PCM.
NOTE:
The Hi-Scan Pro detects the current PCM ID, assigns the new PCM ID and displays them on the Hi-Scan Pro screen.
