THIS TSB SUPERSEDES BULLETIN 08-FL-001. THE ECM UPDATE APPLICABILITY AND CALIBRATION ID TABLE HAS CHANGED. IN GDS THE FORMER ECM UPDATE EVENT NUMBERS HAVE BEEN DELETED AND THIS TSB NOW CALLS OUT LATER AVAILABLE DATA EVENTS. WARRANTY INFORMATION HAS CHANGED TO NEW OP-CODES AND OP-TIMES.
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin provides the procedure to update the ECM software of some vehicles which exhibit malfunction indicator lamp illumination with either of the following DTC's stored and with the specific vehicle applicability as shown for each DTC:
- P0300-P0306: Cylinder Misfire Detected.
(applies to 07MY CM 2.7L, 06-07MY TG, 07-09MY EN, 06-09MY NF 3.3L)
NOTE:
This is for a specific knock adaption related issue that causes false misfire detection. The following conditions should exist in the Freeze Frame Data:
^ High Load > 50%
^ Normal range of fuel trim values (within +/- 10% most of the time)
^ Vehicle speed > 0 mph
- P0110: Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction

Verify the version of ECM ROM ID before attempting to update the vehicle's ECM software. Refer to the ROM ID Information Table's shown below.
NOTE:
K-Line and CAN refer to the different communication modes to the GDS scantool; CAN has faster communication so the reflash events are faster.

Cautions during ECM update:
1. Make sure the vehicle's battery has reasonable charge. If the vehicle has been in storage for days, run the engine to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable update results.
2. Turn off all lamps (do not leave head lamp switch in auto mode) and all accessories (including heater, A/C, blower, radio, seat warmer, defroster, etc.) to prevent battery discharge during the update.
3. Perform update with the ignition switch in the ON position.
4. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or scan tool during update.
5. Do not start the engine during update.
6. Do not turn off the ignition switch during update.
