Service Procedure
OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE COVER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:1. Remove the hole plug on the side of left front door.
2. Remove the left front outside door handle cover and key cylinder mounting bolt through the hole.
NOTE:
Use a magnetic 8 mm socket or nut runner to prevent dropping the bolt inside the door.
3. Remove the left front outside door handle cover and key cylinder.
4. Remove the left front outside door handle cover from the key cylinder using a flat head screwdriver.
5. Install new left front outside door handle cover on the key cylinder.
6. Cut and attach the paper washer contained in the service kit to the key cylinder as shown. Use an instant adhesive, such as "Super Glue Gel" or "Crazy Glue".
7. Remove the front outside door handle from the front door. Pull the handle to the rear to release it from the linkage, then it can be removed from the door.
NOTE:
The handle cannot be removed from inside the door. Do remove any interior door parts.
8. Cut the outside door handle hinges (top and bottom) by 1 mm using a sharp knife as shown in the photo.
USE CAUTION DURING THIS STEP TO AVOID INJURY.
First cut on bottom side.
Final cut on bottom side.
Top side after trimming.
NOTE:
Both sides must be trimmed.
9. Install the left front outside door handle, key cylinder and new front outside door handle cover in reverse order of removal.
Replacing the right front outside door handle cover:
10. Remove the hole plug on the side of the right front door.
11. Remove the right front outside door handle cover mounting bolt through the hole.
NOTE:
Use a magnetic 8 mm socket or nut runner to prevent dropping the bolt inside the door.
12. Remove the right front outside door handle cover.
13. Cut and attach the paper washer contained in the service kit to the new right front door outside handle cover as shown. Use an instant adhesive, such as "Super Glue Gel" or "Crazy Glue".
14. Remove the right front outside door handle from the front door, and trim as per step 8.
NOTE:
Be sure to trim both sides of the handle.
15. Install the right front door outside handle and new front outside door handle cover in reverse order of removal.
16. Verify both door handles operate correctly.
