Subject: CENTER PROTECTOR INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION:
Some Azera vehicles may exhibit a noise caused by a loose protective cover underneath the vehicle.
This bulletin provides a repair procedure to replace the center protective cover.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
^ Model: 2006-2008 Azera vehicles
^ Production Date Range: Start of production to June 4, 2007
PARTS REQUIRED:
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
IMPORTANT: Take extra precaution to prevent damage to any of the fuel or brake lines during the procedure.
1. Lift the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove all four center floor under covers (A) and discard them.
NOTE: With the under covers removed, closely observe the fuel and brake lines along area A1. This will be the area to be covered by the Center Protector.
^ Refer to the layout above for mounting clips of the fuel and brake lines.
3. Partially loosen the fuel tube front and rear cover mounting nuts (E and B).
4. Unfasten the clamp mounting nut (C) and remove the clamp and the mounting clip.
IMPORTANT: Do not damage the clamps during removal, since they will be reused during reinstallation.
5. Install new mounting clip (F) to the fuel lines by hand.
6. Install the newly supplied center protector (G) by hand, according to the following steps.
a. Place the rear portion of the center protector over the rear cover (H).
b. Squeeze the front end of the center protector into the space between the front cover (I) and the fuel/brake lines.
7. Align the mounting clip with the mounting hole of the center protector and reinstall the original clamp (J).
8. Align all the mounting holes of the center protector and front and rear covers.
9. Using a rivet gun, attach the center protector to the front and rear covers (K). Rivets must fit through the aligned mounting holes.
10. Re-tighten the front and rear cover mounting nuts (L and M) securely.
11. Verify repair.
