Shift Linkage: Service and Repair

SHIFT LEVER

COMPONENTS:

REMOVAL
1. Remove the shift lever knob (A).





2. Remove the indicator assembly (A).





3. Remove the two bolts (A) in the console box.





4. Remove the two screws (A) mounting floor air duct.





5. Disconnect the interlock connector(A).





6. Disconnect the control cable(A).





7. Remove the shift lever assembly (A). (Bolt: 4EA)





INSPECTION
1. Adjusting method for T/M control cable.
1) Set room side lever and T/M side lever to "N" position.
2) Connect room side lever and shift cable.
3) Connect T/M side lever (A) to cable in the following order.
a. Push cable (B) lightly to "F" direction shown to eliminate FREE PLAY of cable.
b. Tighten adjusting nut.





4) After adjusting according to (2)-(4). Check to be sure that this part operates surely at each range of T/M side corresponding to each position of room lever.

INSTALLATION
1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
