DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides a procedure to check for correct mode setting when installing a Sonata TPMS sensor service part.

^ Symptom/Condition:





TPMS sensor in 'High Storage' mode, causing TPMS light illumination.

NOTE:
If a TPMS sensor service part is installed in a Sonata vehicle without correctly setting the mode to 'Low Normal', the 'TPMS' warning light will turn on.

VEHICLES AFFECTED :

^ Model: Sonata (NF)

^ Any TPMS equipped Sonata vehicle with a TPMS sensor service part installed and with the TPMS light ON due to incorrect mode setting.





PARTS REQUIRED:

INSPECTION:





Confirm that the vehicle is equipped with TPMS and verify that the new sensor service part is the correct application for the model year of the vehicle and is in 'Low Normal' mode when installing onto the vehicle (for example, an 08 MY Sonata TPMS sensor is not interchangeable with the 09 MY Sonata TPMS sensor). Please verify the applicable MY part number as shown.

^ 08' MY Valve - TPMS Sensor P/N = 52933-1F000

^ 09' MY Valve - TPMS Sensor P/N = 52933-2F000

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

The following steps describe how to confirm and change the service sensor ID mode.





1. Go to the main TPMS diagnosis screen for the applicable MY Sonata and select 02. Tire SNSR CONFIG(Exciter).





2. Select 01. Set Sensor Status.





3. Press enter with the hand-tool located near the replaced sensor.





4. A brand new TPMS sensor service part should be in 'High Storage ' mode. Change the sensor mode to low normal fixed by pressing the F3 'Low ' button.

5. Verify the mode has been correctly changed to 'Low Normal' and that completes the reprogramming.

The following steps provide the sensor ID registration process.

NOTE:
Whenever a TPMS sensor is replaced, make sure that it is in the "LOW" mode and then make sure to register all four sensors using the following procedures.





6. Register the new sensor ID to the vehicle by selecting 02. Tire SNSR CONFIG(EXCITER).





7. Select 02. Register Sensor and press enter.





8. Go to each wheel position as described in the tool and press enter to read each ID.





9. Finish reading all wheels' sensor ID information.





10. Connect the cable to the vehicle's DLC (Data Link Connector) and press F6 to register the ID's to the ECU.
