This TSB supersedes bulletin 10-01-011 to update the XM Radio phone number used for the XM ID update procedure.

IMPORTANT:
DEALERS MUST PERFORM THIS CAMPAIGN ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES WHENEVER AN AFFECTED VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR.

IMPORTANT:
WHEN A VEHICLE ARRIVES AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ACCESS HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA'S "WARRANTY VEHICLE INFORMATION" SCREEN VIA WEBDCS TO IDENTIFY OPEN CAMPAIGNS.

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin describes the procedure to remove and replace the Sonata navigation unit.

VEHICLES AFFECTED:
2009 Sonata vehicles equipped with the Navigation System that were sold between September 1, 2008 to February 28, 2009.





PARTS INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
The Service Procedure is also described in the 2009 Sonata Service Shop Manual, under section Body Electrical (page BE-II).

1. Record the customer's radio stations and disconnect the negative battery cable.





2. Remove the shifter knob by carefully pulling upward.





3. Using a trim removal tool, carefully remove the shifter console.





4. Disconnect the two connectors from the shifter console.





5. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two mounting screws and carefully remove the lower center fascia panels.





6. Disconnect the two lower center fascia panel's connectors.





7. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws and remove the upper center tray bezel.





8. Carefully remove the center pad fascia panel.





9. Remove the clock connector.





10. Remove the heater control unit connectors.





11. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the four mounting screws and remove the navigation unit.





12. Remove the navigation unit connectors and cables.

NOTE:
Do not place the navigation unit on the seat or dash pad. The mounting brackets of the navigation unit may damage seat material or the dash pad.

13. Install the new navigation unit in the reverse order of removal.

14. Reconnect the navigation battery cable and reset the radio stations and clock.

15. Verify that all components that have been removed or disconnected now function correctly.

16. Verify the Navigation/Audio unit is functioning correctly.

17. Select XM and tune to channel 0. Record the XM ID number and contact XM Radio at 1-800-852-9696 to update the new XM ID to the vehicle.
