Electronic Power Steering - C1212 Vehicle Speed Sensor - Component Inspection

Component Inspection

1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Connect Scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
3. Start engine and select "SCOPEMETER FUNCTION" on scantool.
4. Drive the vehicle and measure output signal between terminal "3"of Vehicle speed sensor harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification :












5. Is vehicle speed sensor output signal within specifications?
YES
1) Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
2) Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
NO
1) Check vehicle speed sensor for contamination, deterioration, or damage.
2) Substitute with a known-good vehicle speed sensor and check for proper operation.
3) If the problem is corrected, replace vehicle speed sensor and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
