C1632 Cluster Control Switch Fail - General Information

General Description

SCC(Smart Cruise Control) has additional function which helps to keep safety distance from the car ahead as compared with conventional ACC(Auto Cruise Control). SCC remote control switch, which is mounted on steering wheel, transfers drivers intention(main switch ON/OFF, set, control distance setting value, +, -, cancel) to SCC. The message of the SCC remote control switch is transmitted though cluster CAN message.

DTC Description

SCC monitors SCC remote control switch message from cluster with every reception of the CAN message. SCC sets this code when SCC remote control switch fail message is received from cluster. System recovers to normal condition as soon as the signal is alright again.Note. C1632 does not detect these kinds of errors: SCC remote control switch internal error or serial communication line error between SCC remote control switch and multi function switch. While it detects whether cluster receives SCC remote control message normally from multi function switch or not. Multi function switch transmits SCC remote control switch message to cluster although there is an error in SCC remote control switch itself or in harnesses between multi function switch and SCC remote control switch. Therefore It is not proper to assure that the cause of C1632 is SCC remote control switch internal error. SCC remote control switch internal error can be verified by self diagnosis function of the multi function switch. (B1550)
