Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage
2. Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?

Check open/short to ground in CAN communication line
1. Ignition "OFF".
2. Disconnect EPS connector and ABS.ESC connector.
3. Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of EPS(MDPS) harness connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of VDC harness connector.
4. Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of EPS(MDPS) harness connector and CAN-LOW terminal of VDC harness connector.

Specification :below 1Ohms

5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?

CAN register and communication line inspection 2
1. IG KEY OFF.
2. Disconnect PCM connector and Cluster connector.
3. Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of ECM.
4. Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of Cluster.

Specification :About 120 Ohms

5. Is the measured resistance within specification ?

CAN Communication line check

Check short to battery in CAN communication line.
1. IG KEY OFF
2. Disconnect PCM, TCM and ABS/ESC connector.
3. IG KEY ON
4. Measure voltage between CAN high terminal(# 3) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.
5. Measure voltage between CAN low terminal(#11) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Specification :About 0V

Check short to ground in CAN communication line
