SUBJECT: DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSAXLE INSTALLATION
This TSB supersedes 11-AT-014-1 to change Step 7.
Description:
The Veloster is equipped with a dual-clutch transaxle. Special precautions are required during installation of the transaxle as shown in Steps 1-4.
Applicable Vehicles: Model Year 2012 - Veloster 1.6L
equipped with dual-clutch transaxle
PARTS INFORMATION
WARRANTY INFORMATION: Normal warranty applies
*NOTE
Use only 75W/85 gear oil meeting the specification approved by Hyundai. Do not use SPIII, SPH-IV or other ATF which may result in degradation of shift quality or transmission durability.
DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSAXLE REMOVAL:
Refer to the Veloster Shop Manual, DCT (Double Clutch Transmission) System (Automatic Transaxle DCT), for instructions.
DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSAXLE INSTALLATION:
1. Confirm the 4 springs on the adaptor plate are approximately 1" long and are intact.
*NOTE
Improper assembly can damage or break the springs.
2. Use a wrench to turn the crankshaft slowly as the transmission is mated to the engine.
3. Rotate the crankshaft slowly and carefully install the transmission to the engine.
*NOTE
Do not insert the mounting bolts until the engine-transmission gap is less than 3 mm (1/8").
4. When the engine-transmission gap is less than 3 mm (1/8"), install the mounting bolts.
Torque: 31-35 lb-ft (4.3-4.9 kgf.m)
5. Reinstall all parts in the reverse order of removal.
6. Remove the fill plug.
Refill the transmission with 75W/85 gear oil, P/N 08950-00020-B, until oil flows out in a thin steady stream.
Reinstall the fill plug.
Torque: 25-32 lb-ft (3.5-4.5 kgf.m)
7. Attach a GDS and select:
^ VIN, A/T menu and "DCT"
^ "Option Treatment"
^ "DCT Learning Function"
Follow the screen prompts.
*NOTE
This step is necessary to prevent delayed or harsh shifts.
8. Drive the vehicle to confirm the proper operation of the transmission.
