Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
2. Disconnect the vapor tube quick-connector (A), and canister close valve extension connector (B).
3. Remove the vapor tube mounting nut (C).
4. Remove the fuel tank air filter mounting bolt (D).
5. Remove the canister bracket mounting nuts (A).
6. Remove the canister assembly (A).
7. Disconnect the vapor tube quick-connector (A), and vapor hose (B).
8. Disconnect the ventilation hose (C).
9. Remove the canister protector mounting bolts (A).
10. Remove the canister protector mounting nuts (B).
11. Remove the canister bracket bolts (A).
12. Remove the canister.
[Auxiliary Canister (SULEV Only)]
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) cable.
2. Disconnect the vapor hose (A) and ventilation hose (B).
3. Remove the auxiliary canister (C) after removing the nuts.
Inspection
1. Check for the following items visually.
- Cracks or leakage of the canister
- Loose connection, distortion, or damage of the vapor hose/tube
A: Canister <-> Atmosphere
B: Canister <-> Intake Manifold
C: Canister <-> Fuel Tank
Installation
1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Canister installation bolt/nut:
19.6 - 29.4 N.m (2.0 - 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 - 21.7 lb-ft)
