SELF-DIAGNOSISSystem Description
The diagnosis sensor unit has the capability to display through the CONSULT-II three malfunction modes:
1. SELF-DIAG [CURRENT]: These are real time malfunctions, items that are malfunctioning at present time and require repair.
2. SELF-DIAG [PAST]: These are malfunctions that have been detected and stored in the self-diagnostic memory. They may be intermittent malfunctions that are not malfunctioning at present time. Malfunctions that have been repaired will remain stored in PAST memory until erase procedure has been performed.
3. TROUBLE DIAG RECORD: All malfunctions that have been detected by the diagnosis sensor unit are stored and can be displayed. Erase procedure does not erase malfunctions stored in TROUBLE DIAG RECORD.
The ECU DISCRIMINATED NO. can be used to confirm that the correct diagnosis sensor unit has been installed in the vehicle. Compare the ECU DISCRIMINATED NO. of the old removed unit to the ECU DISCRIMINATED NO. of the new installed unit. It the correct ECU DISCRIMINATED NO. is not known, refer to the vehicle .
CAUTION: Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in the service procedures. Spiral cable and wiring harnesses are covered with yellow insulation for easy identification. Do not attempt to repair, splice or modify the SRS wiring harness. If the harness is damaged, replace it with a new one. Always mount the diagnosis sensor unit with the forward mark to the front. Replace previously used special bolts and ground bolt with new ones. Keep ground connections clean.
