SERVICE INFORMATION

If the sunglass holder lid (lid box assembly) on an applied vehicle does not open or close properly, the cause may be a broken release button. Use the Service Procedure below to resolve this incident, should it occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:
This is the ONLY approved repair procedure for this incident. A claim to Infiniti for the repair of this incident may be denied if the repair is not performed exactly as outlined in this bulletin.

Replace the lid box assembly as follows.

1. Open the sunglass holder lid and remove the screw located at the right side of the opening (see Figure 1).

2. Remove the roof console by carefully pulling it down until the four metal clips, on the backside of the console, are released (see Figure 2a).

3. Disconnect the following vehicle wire harnesses from the roof console (see Figure 2b):

^ Map light harness connector

^ IVCS harness connector (if applicable)

^ Compass/temperature unit (if applicable)

^ Sunroof switch harnesses (if applicable)

4. Once the vehicle harnesses are disconnected, remove each harness connector from the lid box assembly as follows:

A. Break off the connector mounting tab at its base by twisting it (see Figure 3).

CAUTION:
Do not attempt to remove the harness connector(s) from its mounting tab as this can cause damage to the connector. Break off the mounting tab FIRST, then proceed with step B.

B. Use a small, flat-blade screwdriver to pry and remove the broken portion of the mounting tab from the harness connector(s). See Figure 4.

5. Remove three screws and remove the lid box assembly from the roof console (see Figure 5).

6. Install the new lid box assembly into the roof console.

7. Install the wire harness connectors onto the new lid box assembly in their original positions.

8. Re-connect the vehicle wire harnesses to the roof console connectors.

9. Re-install the roof console assembly making sure all four metal clips are fully engaged and seated.

10. Re-install the screw located at the right side of the sunglass holder lid opening (see Figure 1).

11. Open and close the sunglass holder lid several times to ensure it operates properly.

12. Confirm all roof console electrical functions (i.e., switches, lights, etc.) operate normally.

PARTS INFORMATION

Order the correct lid box assembly as follows:

1. Use the FAST parts system to look up the roof console part number.

2. Use the Cross Reference Part Number Table below to determine the applicable lid box assembly part number that you need to order.

IMPORTANT:
Do not use the part number that is molded in the roof console (see Figure 6) to determine the lid box assembly part number. Use the FAST parts system to obtain the roof console part number.
