SERVICE INFORMATION
If an Applied Vehicle has a power steering fluid leak near the pump hose fitting (see Figure 1) the fitting bolt may need to be tightened or replaced.
Use the procedure below to resolve the incident, if it should occur.
NOTE:
This is the ONLY approved repair procedure for this incident. A claim to Infiniti division for the repair of this incident may be denied if the repair is not performed exactly as outlined in this bulletin.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Loosen the fitting bolt.
2. Re-tighten the fitting bolt to 42.8 - 50.0 ft-lb (6 - 7 kg-m).
CAUTION:
Do not overtighten the fitting bolt. Damage to the bolt or pump may occur.
3. Wipe up any spilled oil.
4. Start the engine and bring it to operating temperature.
5. With the engine idling, parking brake set and the transmission in "P" or "N", turn the steering wheel back and forth 10 times to the full lock position on each side.
CAUTION:
Do not hold the wheel to full lock for more than 5 seconds. Damage to the pump or other hydraulic system components may occur.
6. Inspect the fitting for further leakage.
^ If no leakage re-occurs, repairs are complete.
^ If further leakage occurs, replace the fitting bolt and washers. Then retest.
7. Wipe the area clean, then check the power steering fluid level. Adjust fluid level as necessary.
