ECM Reprogramming/Replacing the Rear oxygen sensor(s)

1. Perform ECM Reprogramming to install the latest available ECM data.

^ If you're not familiar with ECM Reprogramming refer to Attachment A shown in this bulletin. For those familiar with ECM Reprogramming, perform the following:





A) Select model and model year for the applied vehicle (example: QX4, 2002).

B) Select the vehicle's transmission you are working on from those listed in the upper right ECM data description window. The vehicle's transmission must match the type you made note of in step 3A (example: Update for A/T Models).

C) Make a note of the "To" number listed in the "ECM Reprogramming Data" Summary screen.

NOTE:
The "To" number will read: 23710-XXXXX.

D) Press "Continue" and follow directions to perform data download from ASIST to CONSULT-II.

E) Then reprogram the vehicle's ECM. When reprogramming from CONSULT-II, select the "To" number that you made note of in step C, above.

Replacing the Rear Oxygen Sensor(s)

1. As shown by the DTC on the CONSULT-II self-diagnosis printout (printed in step 2): Replace the incident bank(s) rear oxygen sensor(s). See Parts Information.

Refer to the EC section of the Service Manual (ESM) for Oxygen Sensor replacement information.

2. Use CONSULT-II to do the following:

^ Erase the DTC code(s).

^ Test drive the vehicle and confirm DTC P0138, P0139, P0158, P0159, P1147, or P1167 is repaired.
