INTRODUCTION

Infiniti has recently learned that the control unit for the air bag system does not work as well as we expected in a rare high-speed off-set crash situation. We improved the air bag control unit and are using it in FX vehicles that are now being manufactured.

To maintain the highest levels of product quality, product safety and customer satisfaction in the 2003 FX35/45 Infiniti wants to reprogram the air bag control unit in vehicles manufactured prior to September 11, 2003 so that it will be the same as the improved control unit. This will assure optimum performance of the airbag system.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number P3156 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

NUMBER OF VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AFFECTED

The number of vehicles potentially affected is approximately 25,000.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the Infiniti dealers responsibility to check Infiniti Net for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this Voluntary Service Campaign (P3156) that enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in an Infiniti dealer's inventory.
