Step 1: Check the Brake Pedal "Free" Height (pedal not pressed).A. If the vehicle is equipped with adjustable pedals set them to the lowest position.
B. Pull the carpet down and fold back the rubber insulation flap (see Figure 1).
C. Measure the "free" height from the metal floor to the top-center of the pedal (pedal all the way up).
NOTE:
The Brake Pedal Height Tool J-46532 (an "essential tool") can be ordered from TECH-MATE.
^ Position the Brake Pedal Height Tool as shown in Figure 1.
^ Pedal height should be:
^ 182.3 mm-192.3 mm.
^ Preferred setting is about 187 mm.
^ If pedal height adjustment is needed refer to section BR in the Service Manual (ESM) for height adjustment information.
CAUTION:
After any free height adjustment is made make sure the brake light and cruise switches are re-adjusted and the clevis pin has some free play.
