Engine - Oil Leak Behind Alternator

An oil leak at the right side block ball plug behind the alternator

ACTION:

Use a punch to seat the block ball plug in the hole (refer to the service procedure).

NOTE:
Do not replace the engine block for this incident if it should occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE





1. Obtain a drift punch with a maximum diameter of 7.5 mm (1/4 inch).








2. Use the punch and a hammer to tap the block ball plug further into the hole until it full seats (see Figures 3 and 4).

^ Move the ball plug further into the hole until it bottoms out (fully seats).

^ You will feel the ball become solid when it bottoms out (fully seats) as shown in Figure 4.

3. Run the engine and make sure the oil leak is fixed.
