The purpose of "ACTION" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.
3. On the side of the vehicle where the noise is coming from open the side doors and clean the upper body side seal.
^ See Figures 1 and 2 for location of seal. Use a clean rag.
^ Clean the entire seal at the A, B and C pillars and across the top.
4. Apply a moderate amount of lubricant to the corner of a clean rag.
^ Use Dupont Krytox(R) lubricant GPL-105 (listed in the Parts Information).
5. Rub the lubricant on the entire upper body side seal; the one you just cleaned (see Figures 1, 2 and 4).
6. Test drive the vehicle with the front windows fully UP.
^ If the noise is gone the repair is complete.
^ If the noise is still there continue with this repair procedure.
7. Completely lower the window.
8. Remove the door finisher from the door the noise is coming from.
^ Refer to section EI in the Service Manual (ESM) for door finisher removal information.
NOTE:
The following tips will be helpful when removing the door finisher.
^ If the outside temperature is below freezing 0° C (32° F) park the vehicle inside and wait until the vehicle has warmed to room temperature. This will help prevent breakage of plastic trim parts.
^ There is a small notch in the bottom rear of the pull handle cover. Use a small flat blade screwdriver at this notch to pop the cover off (see Figure 5).
^ When removing (snapping loose) the arm rest first snap the rear loose then the front.
9. After removing the door finisher remove the inside waist molding.
10. At the front of the door / window / mirror area fold back the inside seal of the window run rubber (see Figure 8).
11. At the front of the door where the sheet metal for the window channel and the inner door meet::
a. Insert a medium size flat blade screw driver as shown in Figure 9.
b. Carefully separate the sheet metal and install a piece of felt cloth tape in between the window channel and inner door sheet metal as shown in Figure 9.
^ The sheet metal may be stuck together with paint. A pop noise may occur when the paint is broken.
^ Felt cloth tape 68370-4B000 (listed in the Parts Information) is pre cut into 4 pieces. One piece is all you need for this.
12. Test drive the vehicle to make sure the noise is gone.
13. Reinstall all parts removed.
