Parking Assist Sys. - False Activation At Signal Lights
Classification: EL09-025Reference: ITB09-051
Date: September 30, 2009
FRONT SONAR PARKING AID SENSORS IRREGULARLY ACTIVATE AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS
APPLIED VEHICLES:
2008-2009 EX35 (J50) - Vehicles without Around View Monitor
IF YOU CONFIRM
The front sonar parking aid sensors:
^ sound a long beep or series of irregular beeps when the vehicle is stopped at certain traffic signals
AND
^ The sonar system otherwise operates normally.
This issue may be caused by vehicle detection sensors (traffic signal induction loops) embedded in the pavement in front of the traffic signal.
ACTION
^ If feasible, attempt to duplicate the issue by driving and stopping the vehicle in front of the same traffic signal where the customer experienced the issue.
^ If duplication is not feasible, interview the customer to find out if the irregular activation of the parking aid sensors occurred more than once at the same traffic signal. This is an indicant that the traffic signal vehicle detection sensors are triggering irregular activation of the sonar parking aid sensors.
NOTE:
If you cannot confirm the vehicle was in the vicinity of traffic signal vehicle detection sensors when the sonar parking aid activated irregularly; or you determine that the sonar parking aid is showing signs of other issues, this bulletin does not apply.
If you determine that this bulletin does apply, replace both front sonar sensors (LH and RH).
^ Refer to the appropriate section in the Electronic Service Manual for removal and installation.
