Inspect the Lumbar Switch Harness

NOTE:
This incident, should it occur, applies to Automatic Drive Positioner (ADP) equipped vehicles only.

1. Write down all radio station presets.

2. Unfasten the seat cushion outer finisher (finisher).

^ Protect all surrounding surfaces with suitable covering.

NOTE:
For this procedure, the seat does not need to be removed from the vehicle. Unfastening the seat (allowing it to be moved manually) will be sufficient.

CAUTION:
> Before manually moving the seat, turn off the ignition switch, disconnect both battery cables (negative cable first), and then wait for at least three (3) minutes.

3. Check the lumbar switch harness for damage (see green arrow in Figure 1).

^ If damage found, go to Step 4.

^ If no damage found, this bulletin does not apply.

^ Refer to the appropriate ESM for further diagnosis.

4. Remove the lumbar support switch.

^ Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) as needed.

^ To get to the lumbar switch connector from under the seat, tilt the seat back.

5. With the lumbar seat switch removed, repair the incident wire.

^ For wire repair, use a solder sleeve connector and its service procedure in bulletin ITB03-054.

^ If the wire cannot be repaired, replace the lumbar support switch.

6. Properly clean the surface of the seat frame where the protector and felt tape is to be applied (see Figure 2 and 3).

7. Install the protector on the inside edge of the seat frame as shown in Figure 4 and 5.

^ The protector's rear edge is 0.2 inches (5 mm) further back from the rear edge of the oval hole (see Figure 4 and 5).

^ The protector lip goes underneath the seat frame edge, top side on top (see Figure 4 and 5).

8. Apply the felt tape as shown in Figure 6.

^ Measure 0.2 inches (5 mm) from the bottom of the seat frame (see Figure 6).

^ Align the felt tape's and protector's front edges (see Figure 6).

9. Reinstall the lumbar support switch.

^ Refer to the appropriate ESM as needed.

^ Make sure all seat harness connectors are connected securely.

10. Connect the battery cables, negative cable last.

11. Move the seat forward and backward as needed to install the four (4) seat mounting bolts.

^ Bolt torque: 49.0 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36 ft lbs)

12 Verify the repair by operating the seat.

13. Reprogram the radio presets.

14. Reset / initialize all applied systems i.e., power windows, clock, sunroof, etc.
