Interior - Rear Seat Arm Rest Relase Strap Comes Loose

REAR SEAT CENTER ARMREST RELEASE LEVER STRAP REPAIR PROCEDURE

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2009 FX35/50 (S51)

IF YOU CONFIRM:

The rear seat center armrest release lever strap has come off (bolt has fallen out),

ACTION

NOTE:
Do not replace the entire armrest assembly for this incident, if it should occur.

1. Inspect the strap, bolt, and spacer.

^ Use a new strap, bolt, or spacer as needed.





2. Reinstall the strap, strap bolt, and spacer.

^ Refer to Section SE in the Service Manual for installation information.

^ Apply Permatex(R) Medium Strength Threadlocker BLUE (or equivalent) to the threads of the strap bolt.

^ Torque bolt to: 2 N�m (0.2 kg-m, 18 in-lb).

^ Do not allow excess threadlocker to soil the armrest (have a clean rag available if needed).

NOTE:
^ If the bolt or spacer is missing, make sure you find the missing part and remove it from the vehicle.

^ A missing part, if left loose inside the armrest or the passenger compartment, could cause a rattle.
