Suspension - Front End Popping/Clunking Noises

POPPING OR CLUNKING NOISE FROM FRONT SUSPENSION

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2008-2010 QX56 (JA60)

IF YOU CONFIRM

Using chassis ears, a popping or clunking noise can be heard coming from the front suspension shock assembly of an Applied Vehicle when driving over a pot hole or speed bump at approximately 10MPH.

AND

The front suspension bolts are torqued to specification.

ACTIONS

1) Replace the front coil spring on both sides (RH & LH) with the part listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

2) Check/set the front alignment.

3) Perform aiming adjustment for the headlamp and front fog lamp (if equipped).

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Replace the front coil spring on both sides (RH & LH) with the part listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

^ Refer to the FSU section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for removal and installation instructions.

NOTE:
The front ride height will be around 1 inch lower after replacement.

2. Use an alignment rack to check/set the front alignment.

^ Refer to the FSU section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for alignment instructions.

^ Make sure the alignment rack has been recently calibrated.

3. Perform aiming adjustment for the headlamp and front fog lamp (if equipped).

^ Refer to the EXL section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for adjustment instructions.
