PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

Description

The parking brake switch converts the status of the parking brake pedal to an electric signal and transmits it to the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).


Diagnosis Procedure


1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CIRCUIT

1.Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2.Disconnect parking brake switch harness connector.
3.Disconnect combination meter harness connector.
4.Check the continuity between parking brake switch harness connector and combination meter harness connector.





Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 2.
NO- Repair or replace error-detected parts.

2. CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

Check the continuity between parking brake switch. .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 3.
NO- Replace parking brake switch. Exploded View.

3. CHECK CONNECTOR

Check the connector and terminal for deformation, disconnection, looseness, etc.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES- GO TO 4.
NO- Repair or replace error-detected parts.

4. CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH SIGNAL

Select "ABS", "DATA MONITOR" and "PARK BRAKE SW" in order with CONSULT, and perform the parking brake switch inspection.





Is the inspection result normal?
YES- INSPECTION END
NO- Check the combination meter. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.


Component Inspection


1. CHECK PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

1.Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2.Disconnect parking brake switch harness connector.
3.Check the continuity between parking brake switch harness connector and ground.





Is the inspection result normal?
YES- INSPECTION END
NO- Replace parking brake switch. Exploded View.


Special Repair Requirement


1. ADJUSTMENT OF STEERING ANGLE SENSOR NEUTRAL POSITION

Always perform the neutral position adjustment for the steering angle sensor, when replacing the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) or steering angle sensor and removing steering angle sensor. Description.
