2013 JX35; INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL MILLIMETER WAVE SENSOR ALIGNMENT

APPLIED VEHICLES: 2013 JX35 (L50)

SERVICE INFORMATION

The 2013 JX35 is equipped with a new type Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system.

This new system uses a Millimeter Wave Sensor which requires essential tool 1-20-2721-1-IF (ICC Alignment Kit) to perform its alignment.

The millimeter wave sensor alignment procedure is found in the Cruise Control System (CCS) section of the Service Manual. This bulletin below contains additional tips regarding the alignment procedure.

IMPORTANT:
^ Before performing any diagnoses, repair, or service of the millimeter wave sensor, make sure there is no physical damage to the millimeter wave sensor, its mounting bracket, or the vehicle body where the bracket mounts.

^ Collision damage (large or small) in the front bumper area can result in physical damage to the millimeter wave sensor, its mounting bracket, or the vehicle body where the bracket mounts.

NOTE:
Because the millimeter wave sensor is behind the bumper fascia, physical damage to the sensor or bracket may not be easily visible. If collision damage is suspected, or known to have occurred, removing the bumper fascia is required for a more thorough inspection.

Tips for Millimeter Wave Sensor Alignment

Refer to the Cruise Control System (CCS) section of the Service Manual for the millimeter wave sensor alignment procedure.

^ Before performing this procedure, it is recommended that you watch SIR Vol. 172 (Millimeter Wave Sensor Alignment).

^ Infiniti Virtual Academy => Infiniti Service Technician => SIR Videos (Video Library) => SIR (Service Information Resource) => Electrical SIR Vol. 172.

One of the steps in the Service Manual procedure asks if you are using Hunter alignment equipment:

^ Hunter camera based alignment equipment with current software has on-screen instructions for a portion of the setup for millimeter wave sensor alignment.

^ If your Hunter alignment equipment does not have the on-screen instructions for millimeter wave sensor alignment setup:

> Contact Tech-Mate for software upgrade information

or

> Use the Service Manual instructions for "without" Hunter alignment equipment.

While performing actual adjustments of the millimeter wave sensor, make small adjustments and then recheck with CONSULT-III plus (C-III plus). Readings on the C-III plus screen are not "real time"; they will not change until a recheck is initiated.

If the millimeter wave sensor alignment procedure J-51093 with C-III plus will not complete after 2 or 3 attempts, remove the bumper fascia and use special tool J-51093 to make sure the sensor is level. This will give "base-line" starting point for C-III plus.

NOTE:
^ The adjustment for the above leveling is the same as the adjustment for the alignment procedure.

^ If the adjustment is too far off, the alignment procedure using CONSULT-III plus may not be able to establish a starting point and will not complete.
