Removal and Installation


REMOVAL

1.Remove rear wheel and tire using power tool. Refer to "Adjustment" Service and Repair.
2.Remove brake caliper torque member bolts, leaving brake hose attached, reposition the caliper aside with wire. Refer to "BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY : Exploded View" Exploded View.

CAUTION:
Do not depress brake pedal while caliper assembly is removed.
3.Put alignment marks on disc brake rotor and rear wheel hub and bearing assembly, then remove disc brake rotor.
4.For AWD vehicles, remove cotter pin, then loosen lock nut from drive shaft using power tool.





5.For AWD vehicles, use a piece of wood and a hammer, tap on the lock nut to disengage drive shaft from the wheel hub.
Remove the wheel hub lock nut.

CAUTION:
- Do not place drive shaft joint at an extreme angle. Be careful not to overextend slide joint.
- Do not allow drive shaft to hang without support.
NOTE:
Use suitable puller if drive shaft cannot be separated from wheel hub and bearing assembly.

6.Remove wheel sensor (1) from knuckle. Refer to "Exploded View Rear Wheel Sensor" Rear Wheel Sensor.





7.Remove wheel hub and bearing assembly bolts (A).
8.Remove the wheel hub and bearing assembly.
9.Remove the hub cap.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.





- In order to prevent damage to differential side oil seal, install seal protector (A) onto oil seal before inserting drive shaft.
- Slide drive shaft into differential and tap with a hammer to install securely.
-CAUTION:
Do not use a power tool to tighten the wheel hub lock nut.
- Perform the final tightening of each of parts under unladen conditions, which were removed when removing wheel hub and bearing assembly and axle housing.
- Do not reuse cotter pin.
- Align the marks made on the rotor and rear wheel hub during assembly.
