2013 JX; WIND NOISE FROM ROOF AREA DURING HIGHWAY SPEEDS

APPLIED VEHICLE: 2013 JX35 (L50) with roof rail cross bars ONLY

APPLIED VIN and DATE:
Vehicles built before 5N1AL0M(* *)DC 309506 and May 29, 2012

IF YOU CONFIRM:

A high pitched whistle type noise coming from the roof area during speeds of 40 MPH and above:

^ The vehicle must have a front sunroof.

^ The sunroof must be in the full tilt open position.

ACTION:
Replace the front roof rail cross bar (cross bar).

^ Refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:
This issue does not apply to the rear cross bar.

CAUTION:
Use a clean fender cover or suitable covering to protect painted surfaces.

1. Carefully remove the front cross bar.

^ TORX bolts size: T30

^ Do not reuse these bolts.

2. Carefully install the new front cross bar (kit # 999R1-RZ507).





^ Make sure the arrow points toward the front of the vehicle.

^ Use the TORX bolts supplied in kit # 999R1-RZ507.

> The new bolts threads are coated with a thread locking compound.

^ T30 TORX bolts torque: 8 - 9 N-m (0.82 - 0.92 kg-m, 70.8 - 79.7 in lb)

3. Road test the vehicle, verify repairs.
