CHANGE IN VALVE SPRINGS

All gasoline engine vehicles, 1981 and later.

SERVICE INFORMATION

The valve spring design on Isuzu gasoline engines has been changed from an inner/outer (2 spring) design to a single spring. This change will be found on engines produced after 1983.5.

A blue paint dab on the valve spring indicates only one spring is used. Older style springs have a green or yellow paint dab on the outer and inner spring. Both outer and inner springs will not be marked in the same way on double spring design.

The following specifications apply to the single valve spring design:

Spring Dimensions

Nominal Height: 48.1mm (1.8951 inches)
Limit For Use: 45.4mm (1.7888 inches)

Spring Tension When Compressed to 41mm (1.6154 inches)

Standard Valve: 23.1-26.1 kg (50.9-57.8 lbs)
Limit for Use: 22.6 kg (49.8 lbs)
