P'UP (KB) STEERING SHAFT SQUEAK

VEHICLE AFFECTED

All model Isuzu P'up (KB) 1981 through 1984.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Customer complaints have been received of a squeak in the steering column on KB models. The squeak may be traced to a slight misalignment of the steering shaft assembly. This condition is not dangerous; only annoying.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE (See Fig. 1)

1. Loosen the steering column to firewall bracket, 2. Move the steering column by hand to position the steering shaft in the center of the steering column end grommet.

3. Hand tighten column retaining bolts. Then, rotate steering wheel lock to lock and return to center.

4. Lubricate bushing in end grommet using silicone spray.

5. Tighten firewall bracket bolts.
