Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

Steering Knuckle, Replace
1. Raise and support front of vehicle.
2. Remove back plate and knuckle arm, Fig. 9.
3. Remove dust shield, nut and cotter pin.
4. Remove steering knuckle.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Torque steering knuckle nuts to 72-80 ft. lbs.
Upper Link, Replace
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove upper end and boot.
3. Remove bolt and plate assembly.
4. Remove nut assembly, then the upper link.
5. Reverse procedure to install. Torque bolts to 80-94 ft. lbs. Torque bolt and plate assembly to 72-80 ft. lbs. Torque upper link nuts to 17-20 ft. lbs.
Lower Link, Replace
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove lower end and boot assembly.
3. Remove nut, washer and lower link assembly.
4. Reverse procedure to install. Torque nuts to 72-80 ft. lbs.
