5. Belleville spring
Remove the bearing retainer and the retainer gasket and belleville spring.

10. Reverse shift rod
Remove the spring pin with suitable tools, then pull out the reverse shift rod.

NOTE: Discard the used spring pin.

12. Top/3rd shift rod




13. Low/2nd shift rod
When removing the spring, hold a round bar against the end of the shift rod to prevent it from damaging other components.

16. Interlock pin
When removing parts, do not lose detent balls and interlock pins located between shift rods.

21. Lock washer, nut




1. Engage Top/3rd side synchronizer with the third gear and Low/2nd side synchronizer with the low gear, then attach Tool J-29768 to the main shaft and the countergear.




2. This operation is necessary to prevent turning of the shaft when removing main shaft rear and countershaft reverse gear lock nut.

37. Top/3rd synchronizer assembly




47. Low/2nd synchronizer assembly
Remove synchronizer assembly together with clutch hub, then disassemble these parts into sleeve, insert, spring and clutch hub.




41. Main shaft ball bearing
Use a bench press.
