1987 Trooper II (KT) models with automatic locking hubs.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Due to reduced locking torque specifications for 1987 automatic front locking hubs, some vehicles may, under low temperature conditions, exhibit a ratcheting noise coming from the front hub area on initial takeoff. Installing a new, improved front hub assembly should eliminate the noise. Hub assemblies must be replaced in pairs.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Install new front hub assemblies as outlined in the appropriate Workshop Manual.
2. Be sure to follow the correct procedure for selecting and installing shims and snap rings as described in Service Bulletin 88-07-001.
