AFFECTED VEHICLES 1988-90 Pickup (TF) models before the following VINs:

VINs starting with "4SI": L4215842

VINs starting with "JAA": L7248533

SERVICE INFORMATION

On some vehicles, cracking may occur near the rear corners of the pickup cargo bed panel, around the rear combination lights. If a crack appears, follow the procedure in this Service


Bulletin to install a reinforcement bracket (see "Parts Information" section of this Service Bulletin) behind the rear combination light, to prevent the cracking from reoccurring.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the rear combination light from the damaged side of the vehicle.





2. Drill a 1/4" welding hole in the rear side of the cargo bed, at the location shown in Figure 1.


3. Weld the reinforcement bracket (listed in "Parts Information" section of this Service Bulletin) to the body as follows:

a. Spot weld ("rosette" weld) the bracket at the welding hole.





b. Weld the bracket at the locations shown in Figure 2.

4. Apply body filler (where required) and paint primer to the body areas that require repainting.


5. Repaint as required.

Reinstall the rear combination light.
