Differential Assembly: Description and Operation

The rear differential of all wheel drive vehicles is equipped with a viscous clutch type limited differential. The viscous clutch transfers torque to both rear wheels by limiting the function of the rear differential. The viscous clutch is filled with silicone oil. To reduce noise of the rear axle, high transverse gear contact has been employed.
