Important Operations ! - Removal
NOTE: Details of the service procedure are provided for "Important Operations" only, marked with "!" above. Pay close attention to these steps.
1. Transmission Oil Drain And Under Cover
(1) Drain the oil from transmission and transfer case.
(2) Remove the under cover.
2. Gear Shift Lever Assembly
Remove the levers.
6. Rear Propeller Shaft
(1) Remove the flange yoke bolts at the differential side and center bearing side.
(2) Remove the 2nd propeller shaft.
(3) Remove the center bearing retainer.
(4) Remove the 1st propeller shaft with center bearing.
7. Front Propeller Shaft
Remove the splined yoke flange bolt at the transfer side case.
9. Transmission With Transfer Case
(1) Operate the hoist to slightly raise the engine and transmission.
(2) Remove the # 3 crossmember.
(3) Operate the hoist to slowly lower the rear portion of the transmission.
(4) Support the rear part of the oil pan with a jack.
(5) Remove the starter motor.
(6) Remove the transmission nuts and bolts.
(7) Slowly pull the transmission free.
