M/T Shift Lever - Slips Out of Gear on Deceleration

AFFECTED VEHICLES
^ 1991-92 Rodeo (UC) 2-wheel drive models equipped with 3.1L V6 engine and manual transmission.
^ 1993 Rodeo (UC) 2-wheel drive models equipped with 4ZE1 engine and manual transmission.
SERVICE INFORMATION
On some affected vehicles, the shift lever may slip from 2nd or 4th gear into neutral during deceleration. This is caused by incorrect alignment of the boot on the shift lever.
To eliminate this condition, adjust the shift lever boot as described in this Service Bulletin.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Adjust the shift lever boot as follows:
1. Remove console and insulation.
2. Adjust the boot until positioned as shown in Figure 1, with top of boot above the lip in the lower part of the lever.
3. Reinstall insulation and console.
