Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Rear

With the ignition switch in ON or START, battery voltage is applied to the rear wiper controller. the rear wiper motor and the rear washer motor through fuse 10 and the normally closed contacts in the rear wiper relay.

WIPE

When the rear wiper/washer switch is pushed to the WIPE position, the rear wiper motor is grounded through the LT GRN/BLK wires, the rear wiper/washer switch, and the BLK wires to G200. Battery voltage is applied from the rear wiper controller through the YEL/RED and BLU/RED wires, and the rear wiper runs.

PARK/RUN

When the rear wiper/washer switch is pushed to OFF, the rear wiper motor is grounded through the LT GRN/BLK wires, the rear wiper/washer switch, the BLU/RED wires, the rear wiper controller, the YEL/BLU and YEL wires, the run/park switch and the BLK wires to G300. When the run/park switch reaches the PARK position, the ground to the rear wiper motor is interrupted, and the rear wiper stops in the PARK position.

WIPE/WASH

When the rear wiper/washer switch is pushed to WASH, the rear washer motor and the LT GRN/YEL wire to the rear wiper controller are grounded. The rear washer motor pumps fluid onto the rear window until the switch is released. At the same time the controller turns on the rear wiper. After the switch is released, the rear wiper runs for 2 to 4 cycles and then stops in PARK position.

INTERMITTENT

When the rear wiper/washer switch is pushed to INT, the rear wiper motor is grounded through the LT GRN/BLK wires, the rear wiper/washer switch, the BLU/RED wires, the rear wiper controller, the BLU/WHT wires, and the rear wiper/washer switch. The rear wiper controller switches battery voltage intermittently through the YEL/RED and BLU/RED wires to the rear wiper motor. The rear wiper sweeps once every few seconds. When the rear wiper/washer switch is turned to OFF, the rear wiper sweeps one more cycle and then stops in PARK position.

HATCH GATE OPEN

When the hatch gate is opened, the hatch gate open switch closes and grounds the rear wiper relay coil. The rear wiper relay contacts open, disconnecting battery voltage from the rear wiper controller, the rear washer motor and the rear wiper motor. The rear wiper cannot be operated as long as the hatch is open.
