Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (CA. Only)

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP):

PURPOSE
Used by the ECM in determining EGR system operation.

LOCATION
On the R.H. fender apron.

OPERATION
The map sensor is used for monitoring EGR operation. The sensor will monitor the change in manifold pressure when the EGR is expected to be operating and when not. If the ECM does not get the signal indicating the EGR valve is open when it commands the system on, it stores a trouble code and illuminates the Check Engine Light.
