Fuel Injector

ELECTRICAL TEST
A faulty injector will cause the ECM to store a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). Refer to COMPUTERS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS / DIAGNOSIS, TESTING AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES.

Operational Test:

OPERATIONAL TEST
- Start engine and idle.
- Using a stethoscope, listen to each injector.
- "Clicking" should increase as engine speed increases.

LEAKAGE TEST

Fuel Rail:

- Remove common chamber.
- Remove injectors with fuel rail connected.
- Apply battery voltage to the fuel pump connector.

Fuel Rail:

- Fuel leakage should be less than 2 drops per minute.
- Replace injectors above limit.
- Use reverse procedure to install.
