Displaying and Reading Trouble Codes

1. Install jumper wire between terminals 1 and 3 of Data Link Connector (DLC) (white 3-pin connector behind left side of instrument panel, above kick panel).

2. Turn ignition ON. The CHECK TRANS indicator will flash Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 12 three times, followed by any stored DTC.
3. If several DTCs are stored, each will be displayed three times. They display in numerical order, from lowest to highest. The cycle repeats until the jumper is removed.
4. Some DTCs will cause other DTCs to be stored. It is important to diagnose and repair the lowest numbered DTC first before going on to the higher numbers.
