Engine Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Check the engine coolant temperature sensor with a digital multimeter.
1. Drain the engine coolant from the radiator into a suitable container.
2. Remove the ECT sensor from the intake manifold.
3. Cool the ECT sensor to around 20°C (68°F).
4. Check to see that the resistance of the temperature sensor at about 20°C (68°F) is between 2.1 - 2.9 K Ohms.
5. Install the temperature sensor and fill the radiator with engine coolant.
