Manifold Pressure/Vacuum Sensor: Description and Operation

MAP SENSOR
Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor
Reads pressure changes in intake manifold with reference to zero or absolute vacuum.

MAP sensor and IDLE switch, enable the ECM to discriminate the following engine conditions:
1. Idling condition;
Idle switch is "ON" and MAP sensor input signal is less than the specified level (340 mmHg abs)
2. Partial condition;
Idle switch is "OFF", regardless of MAP sensor input signal.
3. WOT condition;
Idle switch is "ON" and MAP sensor input signal is more than the specified level (340 mmHg abs).
